SEL's WORLD OF ADVANCED, STATE-OF-THE-ART, PRECISION ENCODERS !!! | ||
| The basic
optical design of a single, intensity-controlled light source and a
single, integrated monolithic sensor array yields extremely reliable
incremental and absolute optical encoders at reasonable prices.
SEL infinite resolution encoders (sine/cosine output) are used in very high resolution applications such as pre-press typesetters, optical scanners and monochromators. Integral processors make all-electronic multi-turn encoders possible, replacing large, expensive gear-based mechanical designs. These encoders can be field programmable for use on lead screws, rack & pinion, cable / tape spools, rotary tables, and tool changer turrets. Fiberoptic link encoders can be applied in electrically noisey environments such as heavy machine tools, plasma arc equipment and automatic welding gear. The fiberoptic cable accomodates up to four incremental encoders and can be run through power supply line conduits, reducing system cost and complexity. Fiberoptic transmission allows remote sensing over long distances without concern for ground potentials, lightning strikes and other disturbances. |
All-fiberoptic encoders for especially hostile environments
such as high temperature, EMI/RFI, explosive,environments as well as shock
and vibration are available from SEL. Incremental and absolute units are
used in railroad testing, steel mills, MRI machines, large brushless DC
motor commutation and underground mining, and volatile paint spraying
applications.
Although these products represent standard designs,
there are no restrictions on specifying custom waveforms, linecounts,
electronics, supply voltages and mounting configurations. Please contact
